Circle Time, Group 1 Schedule

Here's what our Circle Time Area looks like for Group 1.

For the lessons I've been teaching. I start off with Circle Time.

First, I sing the Hello song. I think it's from Primary.

Hello, Hello
Hello, and how are you?
I'm fine. I'm fne.
and hope that you are too!

Sometimes I ask each child how they are doing or if they're doing good.

Then we start with the calendar.
I sing the Days of the Week Song while holding up 7 fingers.

There are seven days. There are seven days.
There are seven days in a week.
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Then we try to figure out what day of the week it is today.

I then tell them or ask them if they remember what month it is.
Next we count all the way up to today's date. I try to have them tell me what number it is today.

Then I say today is for example: Thursday, September 22, 2011 while pointing at each part.

Next is the Weather. I have the kids look out the weather and ask them if it's Snowy, Rainy, Stormy, Cloudy or Sunny. Then I'll have a child spin our wheel to put it on the right one.

Last we do a  Review/Refresher. We can sometimes go over colors and shapes or letters and numbers.

Then we sing the Alphabet Song and see which letter we are on for the week.

Which leads us to our Activities.
Usually we just create an animal with the letter of the week. Then have mini activites or crafts that deal with the Letter and theme of the week.

After that, we have about 10 minutes of free time where they can play with toys or activites dealing with shapes, colors, letters, numbers or toys that are theme related.

Once the timer goes off, we clean up and have them sit down again to review the day's letter.
